The making of an artwork for me is messy and not always easy. Starting with an unoccupied space, over intervals of time, through experimental mark making and colour play, real and imagined spaces meet. It is this expression over time which continuously offers surprise and mystery. At some point the drawing or painting takes on its own presence and becomes bigger than just marks and colour on a surface and begins to tell a story.
